Socialization / Week6 / Lim Tae Yi

1. Summary

Socialization is the process of learning what humans need to live in. It also allows you to interact with many people, which can lead to new socialization again.
Socialization is culturally relative because it is socialized differently depending on culture, religion, etc.
Through socialization, one learns the necessary functions of social life, but not everything.
It can be divided into several categories according to certain standard, generally divided into primary and secondary socialization.
Socialization is a very important part. People who are not socialized may not be able to do basic things like learning a language or walking.

2. What was interesting / What did you learn

It is interesting that social class influences socialization. The social class of parents and the socialization of their children are related.
Kohn found that lower-class parents tend to focus on their fitness when raising their children, while middle-class parents tend to focus more on their children's creativity and independence.
I thought the middle class was relatively higher in social class than the lower class, and I thought it was important to emphasize making sure that children could do something on their own.
Then, I wonder what part of parents in the upper class would think important when raising their children.

3. Discussion point

Arnett argues that the socialization of women tends to be narrower than that of men. What is the rationale behind this claim?
