W6. Introduction to Sociology/Socialization/KIM YOON

Socialization is the process that prepares humans to function in social life. Socialization is culturally relative. Socialization, as a concept in social scientific research, has evolved over time. There have been quite a variety of definitions and theories of socialization-Symbolic interactionism, role theory, reinforcement theory and so on. Socialization is the process by which humans learn how to function in a particular society. Although it is expected that all humans experience some form of socialization during their lives, there have been some rare instances throughout history in which individuals were either forced to live in social isolation.
It was interesting to describe unsocialized person as 'wild'. Until young, we are learned spontaneously from family, school, academy and so on.
Discussion point is 'How much socialization is adequate when they're children.'
