I think the modern world is more peaceful than the past. The reason is that the modern world is reluctant to attack others to defend itself because there is much to lose. A typical example is the United Nations. If there is anything unreasonable, the world will cooperate to help. In the past, people would go to war and kill innocent people if it was in their own interest. But now they have a negative attitude toward war because they have a higher awareness of human rights. Therefore, I think the present is more peaceful than the past.
