1. Summary
Stratification shows how people are differentiated based upon their wealth or power. Class, status, and party are the three dimensions of stratificaton. There are various ways to measure these element. First, power is the ability to make others to work or get what they want. It is also called authority.
Property is income, which could be used to evalutae their wealth. Last, prestige is the reputation or position in society.
All of each country have stratification. Stratification is usually referred as inequality. This kind of origin is found in the transition from hunter/gather socities to horticultural society . And there are some ciritics about stratification. They argue that it is dysfunctional and just harmful to society. It is just used to protect who are rich and wealth.
2. What is interesting?
Sociologist Joel Charon see the reason stratification continues. Rich people try to protect this system and also they are the owners of production. Also Marx see this as a economic power.
3. Discussion
Does stratification only influences bad effect on society /? If it is unfair, should we try to remove it?
