The Causes of War & Conflict Theory / Week11 / Kwon Ah Yeon

1. summary

Historically, mankind has fought numerous wars. Whether you want or not, the world has a history of war, and there are many reasons why war happens. Psychologists find the cause of the war in men's psychology. Men are essentially violent, which is repressed in normal societies but expressed through war. Anthropologists argue that if human society is reformed, war will disappear. In information theory, war is based on a lack of information, and if enough information is available, the loser will abandon the war in anticipation of the damage it will cause. Economic theory also argues that there is a war for the pursuit of wealth, and that in Marxist theory war is to strengthen the power of the ruling class.

2. What is interesting

In modern society, there is a claim that crime reincarnates and excludes the lower classes and benefits the stronger upper classes. It remains in my memory that the lower classes are trying to maintain their status and power by exploiting the poor and helpless. Although there are many different views on conflict theory, it is interesting that it is based on inequality.

3. Discussion Point

There was a view that when women became politicians, war would disappear. I think this view is wrong. It is a misguided prejudice that women will have more indecisive, softer politics and avoid dangerous wars. I wonder what you think about this.
