Conflict is thought to be a necessary thing in society. Conflict appears when there are interaction, change, competition or inequality. Conflict theroy was formalized in 19th century. And Karl Marx is the most popular sociologist in conflic theory. He saw the conflict as the result of class conflict.
In modern society, there are also many conflicts. For an example, wealth and power inquality, drug abuse and crime, or stratification. Especially wealth and power inequality, there are many disadvantages for lower class, so the conflict appears.
2. What is interesting?
Polybius believed that the society change are based on justice and legitimate authority. I think this could be contraditory thing.
3. Discussion
Stratification is one of the examples of conflict. Lower class are being controled by upper class, and they become dissatisficated about that situation. But also, because upper class control the lower, society remains. I think 'stratification' have the function of two things that seems opposite.
