A wetland bird named Alaotra grebe in Madagascar is now extinct. Biologists say there are two main reasons for the extinction of Alaotra grebe: the first is that local residents will eat carnivorous fish. The introduction of the habitat of Alaotra grebe has led to a significant reduction in the number of such waterbirds; the second is the artificial capture of the population that further compressed the Alaotra grebe, which accelerated the extinction of the birds. In addition, scientists have found that other bird species in the Madagascar region are also disappearing. Scientists believe that these phenomena indicate that the Earth's biological species are decreasing, and the Earth may lead to "the sixth mass extinction."
