Week 11-2 : Conflict_Theory Heo SeonYeong 허선영

Summary:
Conflict theory has been largely interactive, modified, competitive, structural inequality, degree of inequality, and revolution. First, interaction is what happens when humans act upon each other. Change is a conflict of change. These changes and conflicts are normal and inevitable in society. Competition is competition for scarce resources. Competition will not happen if there is enough for everyone. Human beings tend to compete more than agree. Structural inequality is the unequal distribution of power and rewards according to social structure. Conflicts arise in these inequalities. The degree of inequality is similar. A hierarchy exists and each has a different amount of resources. This leads to conflict. Revolution comes from competition rather than adaptation. In the theory of social conflict, one should know the terms class conflict, ideology, deviance, proletariat, bourgeoisie and capitalism. Proletarian means a working class that does not own the resources, land, or tools used to produce bourgeois goods. In contrast, bourgeoisie is a capitalist class that owns resources, land, and tools. Usually, bourgeoisie exploits proletariat by paying less than its value. Conflict theory states that punishment is necessary to control men. Today, social stratification deprive and exploit the lower classes of power to maintain power and to increase power over time. The inequality of wealth and power also appears similar. Crimes such as drug abuse and street crime are subject to more punishment than large financial and business crimes involving a lot of money.

What was interesting/What did we learn:
The proposition is based on the assumptions of various supporters of conflict theory. Among them, I found it interesting to see decolonization. It means that more powerful countries have spread around the world to increase the wealth. This is how the history of Europe spread around the world seemed to be expressed.

Discussion point:
According to Weber's proposition, Protestant has created an environment in which the capital struggle against resources can thrive. We have learned that the economy has developed according to the ethics of Protestantism. You can't say right or wrong. But what do you think about the ethics of this Protestant?
