1.
Summary :
Based on
the oxford definition demography is the study of statistics such as births,
deaths, incomes, or incidence of disease, which illustrate the changing
structures of human population. Why is it important to study demography? By
studying the demography of this world, it would be easier to find a cause that
is related to population such as death and birth. It is also reaching to the
possibilities to find a cause of a social phenomena (e.g: world war). The
indicators that we can used to determine a demography is birth and death rates
(known as fertility and mortality). Fertility in demography referring to the
ability of women to produce a child, meanwhile mortality refers the nature of
human which is death.
There
is 2 methods to determine a demography which is direct and indirect methods.
Direct methods collected from the tracks of all births and death in the
population of a country. Another common method that is used to count the demography
is to perform a census. Census is an official count or survey of a population,
typically recording various details of individual (dictionary). Meanwhile on
the other hand indirect method is they only ask one person in the family about
the whole family and not actually collect the data from each individuals.

What did you learn / what did
you find interesting :
I think that it’s really interesting that we
conduct a counting of almost every human being in this world. And the fact that
the result of it beneficial to many things, is really helpful. We can find many
things from the demographic data that are already collected before and used it
to answer a social phenomenon or other things.
3.
Point of discussion :
As I read about this topics, I found out
that the census method is quite hard to do. Because the officials have to meet
the person one by one and it would took a very long time to see the result. Is It
possible that in the future we can collect the demographic data with an easier
method?
