week 11-1 / international relations - causes of war / Kang SeoJong

1. summary

Psychological theory states that if war is inherent in human nature, there is little hope of escape as presupposed by many psychological theories. An alternative to this is to argue that war is just a men's activity, and that if human leadership is in the hands of women, there will be no war.
Other psychologists argued that although human nature can lead to war, it is only when a man with an unbalanced mind controls the country.
In anthropology theory, war is fundamentally viewed culturally and taught by sex rather than nature. Therefore, if human society can be reformed, war will disappear.
Information theory argues that all wars are based on a lack of information. The reason is that if no one wins, the loser will simply give up the cost of the life and infrastructure that war will bring.
Economic theory argues that war can be seen as a derivative of economic competition in a chaotic and competitive international system. War begins with the pursuit of new markets, natural resources, and wealth.
Marxist theory sees war as an imperial collaboration that divides the world's proletariat by strengthening power in the ruling class and confronting each other for artificial ideals such as nationalism and religion.

2. interesting point

What was interesting to me was the definition of war in information theory. It was interesting to see the war going because it might be a winner or a loser. In the past, there was no technology to analyze data, and the power of the nation was not as strong as it is today. So I thought it might have been more difficult to predict the outcome of the war. Now that we live in an information age full of information, we feel more comfortable thinking that we will have less war to go through.

3. discuss

I think war is a human trait, but I disagree with psychologists that it is only when a mentally unbalanced man controls the country. In war, humans are based on their own interests, but I don't think this is changed by men. What do you think of this opinion?

  1. I agree with your opinion. I don't think it's right to pass the charge to men just because of their nature. If we have to pass the charge to human, we should not divide it into genders, but you should distinguish it from each situation.
