1. Summary
The Deviance is an act of violating cultural norms. Deviance is divided into two types. The first is called a formal Deviance, a criminal act that violates the established law. The other is called informal Deviance as an act that violates non-lawful norms. There are various theories on social-strain typology, structural functionalism, conflict theory, and labeling. In addition, crime statistics allow analysis of various types of crime. There is social control as a way to bring members of society back to society. Violent video games, tattoos, and sexual assaults on college campuses are being studied in modern times.

2. What was interesting / What did you learn
Among the crime statistics, statistics on murder rates were interesting. Especially, I was surprised to see the difference between black and white. Black murder victims far outnumber whites. Still, I thought that in the United States there was a high hatred for black people.

3. Discussion Point
Is tattoo a deviant or stylish act?

  1. I think the social context that defines deviant behavior depends on which one is. If you wear clothing that reveals tattoos in formal places or if you see them clearly, you might think it's a deviation. But if you're in an informal position or have the same thoughts, tattoos are not a deviation.

    1. The term Deviance may vary depending on the situation. So, isn't it an act of deviance if you don't show a tattoo in public? In other words, isn't tattoo itself a deviant act?

  2. I think Tatu is an information deviance. This is because there is a rule in TV programs that says that an entertainer who has a tattoo should not broadcast it. But I don't blame or think it's bad.

    1. People who see tattoos may feel threatened. When I went to Japan, I couldn't let anyone with tattoos enter the hot springs. I see a tattoo as a negative threat to others.

  3. In the past, people who committed deviant acts often battled, so it was often considered a deviation. However, it is hard to conclude that Tatoo is a deviant act because there are people who recognize it as part of fashion in modern society.

    1. The reason for tattooing is for personal beauty, past or present. However, the reason why tattoos have been perceived as deviant is because they pose a threat to others. I think this is the same as it is now. If a person defines an act of deviance as an act of deviating harm to others, is tattooing a deviation?
