Collective behavior and Social Movement

Summary :

            Now we will talk about colletive behavior. Collective behavior is about social processes that is not showed in existing social culture, but in a spontaneous way. Collective behavior also define as action that is follow norms or violate norms, and it take place when norms are absent or unclear. According to the article, we study collective behavior in sociology, because its about understand how to organize social movement to pursue social change.

            Collective behavior is related to the social movement. Social movement, is about any broad social alliances of people that connected through their shared interest in blocking or affecting social changes. There are 4 types of social movement, alternative social movement, redemptive social movement, reformative social movement, and revolutionary social movement. Alternative social movement has limited change and the person is specific individuals. Redemptive social movements has radical changes and it is change by specific indiciduals. Reformative social movement has limited change but change by everyone, and revolutionary social movement move by everyone and has radical change. There are some social movement theories, there are deprivation theories, mass-society theory, structuralstrain theory, resource-mobilization theory, political process theory, and culture theory.

What was interesting / what did you learn ?

            It is interesting to learn this material, because it is about social movement that all countries maybe have so many social movement. When I thought about social movement I remember martin luther king that gives movement to black people in US, and this take my attention and has interesting point.
