Conflict / Week11 / sukyung Song

1. Summary

The basic premise of conflict is that societies, individuals, and groups exist and try to maximize their share of limited resources that humans want. Given the limited resources, the struggle will inevitably lead to conflict and competition. This struggle can lead to institutions and social change when groups take power.

History
Marks, the master of conflict theory, saw conflicts mainly due to class conflicts in industry and socio-economic concerns.
Maxber argued that power, prestige and property were added to social conflict and found in all aspects of society.
Wright Mills sees the creation of a social structure as one of the consequences of conflict among people with competitive advantage and resources. Control of the social structure is largely in the hands of the elite, who generally oppose the interests of the class, not the elite.

- Modern conflict theory
As the illiteracy develops from a rural society into an industrial society, wealth and power-based classes emerge. The structure of social stratification is divided into those of the upper and lower classes.
Modern society is exploiting the lower classes to systematically maintain power. This happens in all countries, including democracy and socialist countries.

2. Interacting

Conflicts are common in any society. In Korea alone, conflict between men and women is frequent. Especially in crimes, men are increasingly committing crimes only because they are 'female'. I think we need to think seriously about ways to reduce conflict, not just learning about theory.

3. Discussion

What caused the conflict between men and women?
