Extra posting: Why do you think South Korea places so high on this ranking?/ Hyejeong Sohn

Q. Why do you think South Korea places so high on this ranking?

A. The suicide rate seems to be high because they think failure will never let them live well. A country with good social security has a relatively low suicide rate. People living in this country are expected to be able to rise again because they have a social safety net even when they are fail. However, In countries where the social safety net is not well established, the fear of failure grows. Under these circumstances, high competition such as employment and entrance exams places more pressure on them, and these factors seem to have a higher suicide rate.
