week 11-2 / Conflict theory / Kang SeoJong

1. summary

The basic premise of conflict theory is that there are individuals and groups in society and are trying to maximize their share of limited resources that humans want.
There are major terms in social conflict theory such as class conflict, ideology, social class, deviance, proletariat, bourgeoisie and capitalism.
An example of modern conflict theory is social stratification first. As civilization changed from farming villages to industrial societies, a social class emerged that effectively created a unique class of wealth, power and prestige. Therefore, it is said that the ordinary classes maintain power and that all other promotions are economically disadvantaged, give up their rights, and perpetuate a nearly powerless regime.
Second, wealth and power inequality are also a modern example of conflict theory. The top 20 percent of Americans own 85 percent of the wealth in the country, while the other 80 percent own only 15 percent. The extreme inequality in the level of power and wealth present in the United States today is said to be an example of the central theme of conflict theory, namely power competition between classes.
In addition, drug abuse and crime are modern examples of conflict theory.

2. interesting point

What I am most interested in is economic inequality. In the talk of wealth in the example of power inequality, the saying that the top 20 percent took 85 percent of wealth and the other 80 percent only 15 percent of wealth. Perhaps now the gap has widened.
Too much wealth for one person is not an issue in a free economic society, but it can have a bad influence on a democratic society. Korea is a democratic society, but powerful people such as lawmakers often act against the laws of democratic societies, such as proposing laws for those with wealth or looking at their faults. They even have a lot of irregularities, so they collect money and don't do everything they can. I think the concentration of wealth should be balanced not only because it ends with a lot of things, but because it hurts society.

3. discuss

In order to strike a balance of wealth we do?
