The causes of war / Week 11 / 배찬형 Bae Chanhyeong

1. Summary

Most people want to avoid war. But the war is still continuing. For this reason, people explain war based on various theories. The cause was found largely by seven classifications. Psychological theory states that war causes war because of the essential characteristics of man. This explains the root cause rather than the process of war. It is said that humans are always ready to start war because they are evil. Other psychologists also argue that human temperament can lead to war, but it is when a mentally unbalanced man controls the country.
Next, we explore the causes of war with anthropology and sociological theory. Social theory also uses various statistics and formulas to predict war.
There is also a new approach, information theory. Arguing that all wars stem from a lack of information, the theory is that the loser will give up the war in the first place if both sides know which side to win. The main goal is to gather the enemy's capabilities and find out the enemy's intentions.
Finally, there is economic theory and Marxist theory. Economic theory forms part of what is explained in Marxist theory. All wars are rooted in class wars. They argue that war strengthens the power of class and that war is a natural derivative of free markets.

2. Interesting point

I was most interested in information theory. Times are becoming more and more information and information is becoming more important. Under these circumstances, the approach that war is due to lack of information has been noticed. Every war requires a strategy, and information is also needed to establish such a strategy. You don't fight to lose the war. If you already know that you will lose, you will not be forced to wage wars that will destroy your place of life, cause property damage, and cause casualties. I realized the importance of information in this part of the war, and I thought that was interesting.

3. discussion

Nowadays, wars are becoming less and less common in the international community. But war continues. There is Yemeni civil war, Syrian civil war, Iraq's IS etc. What can be done to reduce this war? (at the personal/national/ international level)
