1. Summary
The term sociology was coined by a compound that combines the Latin word 'socius' and the Greek word 'logia' meaning study and linguistics. Comte thought that sociology had the potential to make human life better. Comte believed that society developed gradually to theological stage, metaphysical stage, and finally scientific or positivist stage. And Comte think the last stage is the best point of social development.
2. What was interesting/what did you learn
The combination of Latin and Greek to create the word "sociology" was thought to be great. I thought it was great to think that Comte's step into sociology has become our current sociology.
3. Discussion Point
Comte claimed to observe the laws of nature and discover the laws that govern the social universe, and I think we should study sociology not only through communication between people and everyday life.
