I think this statement is based on the reality that the richest people from certain country (mostly western) is indeed doesn’t believe in particular religion. But why that thing can happened? I think it’s because as they get richer they don’t find religion that important any more. Because they already have everything and their attention is already focused on their work. As we know some religion require time to practice and rich people might be think it’s a waste of time. And also the fact that if they are rich they probably also seek knowledge and power, they might think religion is restraining them to do all that things. Because if you practice some religion there are some rules and things that you have to follow.
