Extra Posting: How can we reduce the suicide rates in korea? / HanBin Bae

It is important that we reveal the suicide problem without hiding it. Openness, transparency, and dialogue are more important than anything else. We also need to socialize the suicide problem. In the past, there was a perception that suicide is a personal problem, but we should change it to the perception that it is a social problem.

Japan, which has been losing its suicide rate, is spending 75.8 billion won on related budgets, but Korea's budget for next year is only 20 billion won. I think it also needs more active support from the authorities concerned.

Finally, the public-private council, which is closely connected with the public, needs to find, consult, and rescue high-risk soldiers in each region, including doctors, lawyers, teachers, former government officials and experts in job support from large corporations. When transferring a suicide attempt to a hospital, a government official in charge of preventing suicide should be sent to the hospital and given appropriate relief measures. Support for the families of suicide victims should also be provided. I think all these efforts could bring down the suicide rate.
