What is sociology? / WEEK 1 / Bae Chanhyeong

1. Summary
Sociology is the study of improving human activity.
Sociology has a wide range of fields and traditionally analyzes from a relationship, interaction, and culture perspective. This approach used qualitative and quantitative research techniques. The cultural transformation of the 1980s brought about a humanistic approach.
As time goes by, even mathematical analysis is being conducted, not only in areas of economy and health.
Sociology is therefore the study of applying the environment to social structure, culture, and history.
It is the study of seeing social phenomena through experience and learning the world.

2. Interesting
What was interesting after reading about sociology is that of today. In the past, the impact of industrial societies on individuals was that they are doing extensive research, not limited areas. Sociology was supposed to be just a study of what's going on in humans, but it was studying further than that. For example, it contained parts of class, gender and crime in the group.

3. Discussion
Sociology and scientific exploration are accompanied by the development of social science, and I wonder how we can interpret scientific and mathematical phenomena in human life. I think it is possible to produce statistics, but I think predicting social phenomena with statistics is more likely than not.
