Introduce to sociology/Week 2/Zhang peiyao

1.summary
What is sociology? Sociology is a subject that studies social behavior and human group systematically. It is a modern subject that evolved from social philosophy. Sociology is a subject with multiple research methods. There are four scientific approaches to sociology. First, scientists will find some interesting phenomena in their life. Then, they will make assumptions about the development trend of certain phenomena and predict the possible situation. Many scientific tests are then used to verify the validity of the predictions or to discover new elements. The process of science is repeated, and all scientific knowledge is constantly changing. It's a very complex process and it can go wrong at any one step at any time. I find it very interesting.

2.what is interesting
I found an interesting problem in reading. It's the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable. Simply put, the independent variable is the cause, and the dependent variable is the result. In the experiment, the independent variable is controlled by the experimenter. A change in phenomenon or result caused by a change in the independent variable. So independent variables and dependent variables, without independent variables there is no dependent variable, and without dependent variables there is no independent variable. This is something I never understood before. Now it's very clear.
3.discussion point
Sociology is a very broad subject. What else can you think of besides these four scientific methods?
