socialization/week6/김지윤/ji yoon kim

1. Summary
Socialization is an essential component of making a person a member of society. Social control can be imposed on individuals who fail to socialize, and individuals can experience anomie and alienation. Socialization has a positive function that leads individuals to perform the actions society expects, but it is also a tool of oppression that constrains the individual to society and suppresses their individuality.

2. What was interesting/What did you learn
Socialization is basically a factor for social integration. However, in the process of socialization, individuals can sometimes be mentally damaged, such as being forced to choose against their will and being suppressed. A person with a disordered mind is at risk of committing an act against the original purpose of socialization, often called indiscriminate crime in society. Consider, for example, the occasional shooting rampage at a major socializing institution, schools. Considering the true purpose of socialization, this is truly ironic. It is no exaggeration to say that socialization, which does not consider individual characteristics, causes division rather than integration into society.

3. Discussion
As I said earlier, socialization also has the risk of being a catalyst for social division, not a means of integration. Traditionally, socialization has tended to force individuals to fit into society, and in a modern society where personalization is accelerating, I think there is a need to discuss and build a new way to socialize accordingly.
