Politics/ Week5/ ji eun Bang

1.Summary
Politics appears not only in the civilian government but also in all human populations.Power in politics is the social influence they exert. They manage the distribution of public resources. Most governments now induce people to behave in certain ways based on power. If people don't follow the rules, the government has the right to use violence. And there are various types of government, such as monarchy, a political system that holds the status of a sovereign as head of state, totalitarianism, which tries to regulate democracy, public and private life for citizens. A political party is a political organization that seeks to acquire and maintain political power within a government. They aim to unite various interests.

2. What did you learn?/What was interesting?
I think the people's greatest right in politics is voting. It was interesting that we could predict the possibility by gender, age, race, and class. In gender, places with jobs by gender are more likely to vote for conservative candidates because they believe job security is threatened by women and ethnic minorities. In age, older people tend to vote for issues that are organised and directly affected. So, older Americans have more power than younger people. In race,Minority people lack political office and are not easy to vote in elections. And they are less likely to maintain political positions. In class,
people who are relatively wealthy and educated are more likely to vote and they are more likely to maintain their political positions.

3.Discussion
What else can the voting predictability beyond gender, age, race and class? And as I said above, older people have a higher voter turnout than younger people, so how can we encourage young people to vote?

  1. I think we should let them know the importance of voting. Why should we vote? If you show what can change through voting, you'll be more likely for young people to vote.
