Week 5 / Politics / MinSeung Sung

Week 5 / Politics / MinSeung Sung

1.  Summary

Politics begins with a group of people making decisions. Politics can be divided into power, authority, and violence. There are various types of government depending on the type of political power. The people who share the same opinion form the party to act their power. The United States is divided into the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Voting is an essential system in a democratic nation. By voting, the political parties have the right to use power.

2 . What was interesting/what did we learn

Statistics about the rate of participation and voting in politics by gender and age were most interesting. Statistics show that young people have a lower percentage of political participation than older people. Also, despite women's lower status than men in developing countries, the highest turnout was most impressive. In addition, politics is explained in relation to race and class. It was interesting that politics could be analyzed from various perspectives.

3. Discussion points

If the Republic of Korea were to be reunified, what form of politics would it be?

1 comment:

  1. North Korea is a self-proclaimed democracy (of course their actual form of politics is closer to the monarchy) so it won't be too difficult for the two Koreas to agree on a democratic political system.
