Politics / Week 5 / 김성희 Kim Seonghui

1. Summary

Politics is the process of a group of people making socio-economic decisions. Although often used interchangeably, authority and power mean different things. Types of government include monarchy, democracy, totalitarianism, oligarchy, and communism. A monarchy is a form of government in which the highest power is absolutely or nominally placed on the head of the state. Democracy is a government in which a large number of citizens within a country or country have the right to rule or sovereignty. Totalitarianism is a political system that strives to regulate almost every aspect of life. Women are generally more likely to vote in developed countries, but women are not supported in their political positions. Young people are much less likely to vote than older people to become politicians. Therefore, older people have more power than younger people. (Case of U.S.A)

2. What was interesting / What did you learn

Politics happens in all parts of human relationships. An oligarchy is a form of government that has concentrated power on a small number of social members with assets, military power, and political influence. According to a U.S. study, there is a growing gap between individuals who advocate conservative ideology and those who advocate more progressive ideology. It is also combined with population movement, and some Americans say they move to places where people with the same ideology usually live. This is because they believe information from their friends, family, neighbors, and local newspapers rather than trusting information from politicians and mass media.

3. Discussion Point

As a case of U.S.A, Why do people believe information from their friends, family, neighbors, and local newspapers rather than trusting information from politicians and mass media?
