Politics/ week5/ minji jeong

1.Summary

Any act of membership in any organization to gain authority and influence decisions can be called politics. Generally speaking, this refers to the operation of the state and its activities that affect it. Democracy is a form of government in which sovereignty resides among the people. The two principles of democracy are that all members of society have equal rights, and that all members can enjoy universally recognized freedom and freedom. Democracy is most concerned about how to distribute resources and how to maintain social order. This is a good example of 'coordinating and leading opinions between business and business,' another meaning of politics.

2.What was interesting/ What did you learn

The word "oligarchy politics" was new. A small number of powerful people are said to be authoritarian political systems that organize and conduct the nation's top institutions. oligarchy is generally established by the monopolization of power by those with economic superiority in a ruling class. Although the concept was strange, it was even more interesting to think that Korea might not be an exception. Some theorists have argued that whatever form may appear to be, all forms of government are ultimately oligarchic. In addition, there were few articles criticizing Korea's oligarch on the Internet.

3.Discussion

I used to worry a lot about the low political participation rate of young people. The low voter turnout among young Koreans was a rebuttal to that. Therefore, many policies in Korea are creating welfare policies specific to the elderly or elderly. However, it has been interesting that this is not our only problem. In the United States, it is also said that older people have more power than younger people. Political apathy among young people in any country is becoming a social issue. What kind of policy should the state come up with to solve this problem? And what can we do?

  1. In order to increase political participation, many people need to know about political events. In order for people to get to know a lot, various media and media coverage are needed and a constant interest in politics is needed. For example, in this age of sns enabled, news-themed pages or Internet articles can be obtained from Facebook or Instagram. However, it is also important to develop a critical perspective on how to deal with this situation properly, as these articles are often colored.

    1. I agree that many people need to know about political events in order to increase political participation. But I think solving people's political indifference, neglect and distrust should be the first priority to learn about political events. It is also a good idea to have frequent exposure through the media, but there will be some limits to the ongoing interest in politics because people selectively collect information. I think that fundamental measures that cause improvement in perception are necessary to keep them interested.

  2. I think one of the reasons young people are indifferent to politics is that they find it difficult to approach political issues. Politics is perceived to be complex, so it doesn't seem to be interested in it. In fact, the privileged may prefer that the people are indifferent to politics. Therefore, I think that changing the perception of each individual is a priority. Efforts to engage in politics with interest in political factors such as voting are needed. And the state should also improve the system and administration to make it easier for the people to participate in politics.

    1. I also think that young people's political apathy greatly affects their accessibility to political issues. The most common example is that political newspaper articles are full of difficult words that we don't usually use. From the very basics, politics is perceived as difficult. It is not easy to change each individual's perception. Therefore, national and civilian concerns and efforts should be accompanied.
