Socialization / Week 6 / 배찬형 Bae Chanhyeong

1. Summary

 This week's topic covers socialization.
Socialization is literally the need for social harmony. I think that socialization is the teaching of various emotions so that humans can play a role in society and live life with value. There are primary and secondary socializations in this socialization. Mortimer and Simmons explain three ways to socialize, one after another, content, context and response. In this process, however, there is a diversity of socialization for various reasons such as country, culture, gender, and class. However, socialization is simply a process for human beings to be compatible with society, and we cannot conclude that certain cultures are better socialized and discriminate against superiority.
And socialization can be distinguished by wide and narrow socialization. This socialization is important to humans. That's because people who don't socialize can't act and hang out with people.

2. Interesting point

The most interesting was the example of this article before it began. I thought this example shows the most important reason why socialization is necessary. I had thought about how humans would grow if they were to live in isolation, but I thought humans could still walk two families like humans today, talk in their own language, and use tools. But in the case of Oxana, I was very surprised and interested to see the part where I described as jumping on four feet and barking like a dog after living with a dog. It is because I thought that human beings are 'human in social meaning' by socializing.

3. Discussion

Socialization allows humans to participate in social activities. However, there are people who have thoughts that the public cannot understand, such as psychopaths and sociopaths. Some of them are deficient and others are raised in ordinary homes. Why did these people come to think socially unacceptable? Can this be seen as a failure of socialization?

  1. The reason they are not socially acceptable is because they differ from us in their values and thought.
We have to find out what socialization of psychopaths and sociopaths is and what nature they were born with.
I think knowing what it's like will help us see if socialization has failed.
