Socialization / Week 6 / 한예림 HanYerim

1.Summary
Socialization is a fundamental sociological concept, comprising a number of elements. The purpose of socialization is to firstly develop impulse control and conscience, secondly, to prepare and perform roles including social roles, and thirdly to cultivate semantic sources.
In short, socialization is the process that prepares humans to function in social life. Socialization is a process of life, but it is generally divided into two parts. 1st socialization occurs early in childhood and adolescence. A person's basic or core identity develops in the primary socialization process, and a more specific change occurs later. In response to new group memberships and roles and the acquisition of different structured social situations, the need for modern life socialization can arise as the complexity of society increases along with the increasing variety of roles and responsibilities

2. What was interesting / What did you learn
I heard that socialization was done twice before I saw this article, but I didn't know it was so important. The case of children who failed to socialize has come as a shock to me.The most interesting thing was that people who failed to socialize at a young age would have difficulty socializing later if they missed the right time. Thanks to this, I am in an environment where socialization can be well received in due course.

3.Discussion
It is said that if there is a shortage in some parts of the socialization period, it will become obsessed with some parts or cause some disabilities later in life. So, what are examples of disability?

  1. Areas where socialization is not well developed are having problems. Families are an important institution that determines early childhood society, and the behavior of children varies depending on how their parents are raised. If socialization hadn't been developed, it would be very much affected in this area and much behind their peers. This is called primary socialization, and it's a case of failure to socialize in the first place, for example, for inmates.
